Hiker's Haven

That's what you'll call Priest Lake! There's an excess of 1,000 miles of trails ranging from easy to most difficult, which includes hundreds of miles of old logging roads that provide access to amazing hiking adventures!

Upper Priest Lake is a designated scenic area dedicated to preserving a primitive environment. It's ideal for hiking. If you're really ambitious try rock climbing Chimney Rock or Granite Pass. There are literally dozens of awesome day trips right outside the cabin backdoor!

Mountain biking

An abundance of trails that offer different levels of difficulty. As a bonus you'll be surrounded by the view of the Selkirk Mountains.

Kayaking, Canoeing and River running

If you're a quiet, solitude type person you'll want to canoe or kayak the 2 1/2 mile long Thorofare that connects Priest Lake to Upper Priest Lake. Take a chance at witnessing Bald Eagles, Ospreys, many different species of ducks and even a moose!

For those who want a little more adventure to their kayaking, try river running. Kayak the 44 mile course from Priest Lake to Pend Oreille River. Check out our link to All About Adventures, to find out how to book your Idaho adventure tour.

Mushrooms and Huckleberries

Everyone knows about Huckleberries and Thimbleberries at Priest Lake but have you thought about mushroom hunting?

Huckleberry season ranges from July 4th up until Sept.

There are many varieties of mushrooms to be found in the wet, warm forest of Priest Lake which include Chanterelles, Morels, Shaggy Manes, Chicken of the Woods, Corals and more. Some varieties can be found in the Fall and some others in the Spring. The Spokane Mushroom Club has an annual mushroom raid at Priest Lake. Contact them on identifying wild mushrooms.

Birds & Wildlife

A plethora of wildlife awaits you. Grizzly Bear, Elk, Bald Eagles, Moose, Black Bear, Gray Wolf, Caribou, Mountain Lions, Bobcats, Mountain Sheep, Mountain Goats, Beavers, Otters...just to name a few!

The Great Blue Heron and many different duck species, including the Wood Duck and Redhead, have been known to frequent Bear Creek. There are no poisonous snakes at Priest Lake.

Just north of Granite Falls and Roosevelt Grove of Ancient Cedars, the Salmo-Priest Wilderness area offers the perfect definition of solitude and serenity. You will likely see the Grizzly bear, Woodland Caribou and Gray Wolf.

Winter Sports

There's something for everyone in the family! Cross country skiing, (traditional and the new skating style) snowshoeing,...Nordic Sports Center (see our links page) offers lessons for the whole family. In the summer the sports center is a golf course and in the winter it's a snowy playground.

Snowmobiling at Priest Lake is a must! Over 400 miles of groomed trails makes Priest Lake a sledder's dream. The trails encircle both Priest Lake and Upper Priest and the best sledding is on the East Side of the lake. Plus, the east side has trails that offer quick access to Schweitzer.

Fishing

Mackinaw or Lake Trout is hot year round. There are 3 very productive spots within 5 minutes of the cabin. Cutthroat and Bull Trout are making a strong comeback, so fly fishing off the end of the dock at sunset is productive. Always know and respect the fishing regulations. See our link page for Idaho fish and game.

Retreats and Spiritual get-a-ways

VOICE MAIL, E-MAIL, COMPUTERS, CELL PHONES, TRAFFIC, all the noise...noise...noise...noise!

You will never find a more serene, tranquil and rejuvenating place on earth than Priest Lake especially in the Fall and Spring. Autumn is magical; the busy season is over and all the summer vacationers have left. Even nature catches it's breath, relaxes and recharges...and so should you! Springtime is refreshing, invigorating and spiritual. The snowmobilers have left, the snow's melting, creeks are roaring and your heart will grow with the magnificence of the new season.

The private 100 acre community "greenbelt", just 100 Ft. uphill and across the road from the cabin, is reserved for foot traffic and mountain bikes. It's a wonderful place to be alone and meditate. A ten minute walk to the south end of the green belt is The Cove. The cove is a State Park with a fine sandy beach and warm water. Many kids from past generations have fun memories of adventures they had there when camping, picnicking and climbing rocks.

A retreat at Priest Lake Haven will summon you to abandon yourself to the spirit, to see yourself as you really are and not what you like to think you are; Rediscover your self value and reevaluate priorities in your life.
