Ultima Thule is...Priest Lake Haven

Self Directed Retreats

There are 3 important elements that are essential in making a successful retreat. Silence, Meditation and Nature.

Silence

Silence...we need to find God and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. See how nature, trees, flowers, grass grows in silence; see the stars, moon, and the sun; see how they move in silence...We need silence to be able to touch souls~ Blessed Mother Teresa

Silence is the necessary beginning for meditation. You'll never find a more tranquil and relaxing place to meditate than God's country at Priest Lake in Idaho.

Meditation

Meditation... shuts out the world leaving no distractions; it lets in the spirit and silences the ego with it's clamorous demands in order that we may hear the wishes of the divine heart. Nothing ever happens in the world that does not first happen inside a mind.

Our thoughts make our desires, and our desires are the sculptors of our days. Meditation improves our behavior. It surrenders us to the power of God. The creature is in communion with the Creator: Life changes and we become less and less the victims of our moods. Meditation is an abandonment to God's will, and this is the prayer of the saints. Bishop Fulton Sheen

Nature

Nature; but more specifically, Water...it's essential to our physical life. It is also one of the best places to meditate. On the beach or along a creek; on the edge of water, waves and currents wash in continually, rhythmically and yet they never become boring; Moving in, drawing us out, they quiet our mind inviting us to let go of our worries and take in the bigger picture. Christ stepped into the river Jordan and insisted John baptize Him.

Water purifies, cleanses, and renews; the weary become strengthened, the despondent become hopeful and the lost are redirected.

The cabin offers many areas throughout the 3 levels for individual or group meditations. The loft is a perfect spot for several people to sit and watch the lake in the warmth and coziness of the indoors. For larger group meetings the great room or the lower level family room will give everyone the atmosphere and comfort of any retreat. Both rooms offer breathtaking views of the lake and mountains.

Retreats at Priest Lake Haven are self directed either individually or by your group. There is no staff at the cabin for cooking or cleaning. We see this as an advantage for groups who need a refresher course in cooperating, compromising and charity. Planning and executing a retreat can be challenging but the fruits of working together for a common purpose are always abundant!
